NFL, Colts make it clear on permissible bags

Fans should be mindful of NFL bag regulations

Colts issue reminder to fans about NFL regulations regarding the size, style of bags permitted inside Lucas Oil Stadium.

Fans making the trek to Lucas Oil Stadium for Saturday night’s preseason game between the Indianapolis Colts and New York Giants need to remember NFL rules on the permissible style and size of bags they can carry.

The rules began last year, but in the spirit of a new NFL season, the Colts sent out a release as a refresher. While the team “strongly encourages” fans to not bring any bags into the stadium, here’s what will be allowed inside the venue, in stadium plaza areas, stadium gates or when approaching queue lines of fans awaiting entry:

— Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12’’ by 6’’ by 12.’’

— One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar).

— Small clutch bags or purses, approximately the size of a hand, with or without a handle or strap, may be carries into the stadium along with one of the clear bag options.

An exception will be made for medically necessary items after inspection at the Northwest and Southeast stadium corners.

Each family member can carry in an approved bags.

Prohibited items include, but are not limited to: purses larger than a clutch bag, coolers, briefcases, backpacks, fanny packs, cinch bags, luggage of any kind, seat cushions, computer bags, camera bags or any bag larger than the permissible size.

As in the past, the Colts will continue to enhance safety procedures with pat downs, bag checks and metal detectors. Working personnel, including media, will continue to enter NFL stadiums through designated gates, where they will be subject to screening and bag inspections already in effect at all stadiums.
