Safety Matt Giordano out of the University of California became the third Colts rookie from the 2005 draft class to sign a contract with the club. Terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed, but ColtPower will update this story when those details become available.
Giordano joins kicker Dave Rayner and DT Vincent "Sweet Pea" Burns as the drafted rookies that will be able to participate in training camp beginning this Wednesday in Terre Haute, Indiana.
Still unsigned are first-round pick cornerback Marlin Jackson, cornerback Kelvin Hayden (second round), guard/center Dylan Gandy (fourth round), center Rob Hunt (fifth), defensive end Jonathan Welsh (fifth), linebacker Tyjuan Hagler (fifth) and perhaps most unusual of all, running back Anthony Davis who was picked with the Colts last draft pick in round seven. Having three higher-drafted players signed prior to the seventh-round pick could be an indicator that Davis and the Colts are struggling a bit to agree on a deal that each side sees as equitable.
Giordano is expected to provide immediate help to the Colts' special teams and some needed depth to the safety position.
