Colts Add Reid to Secondary

The Colts have signed safety Dexter Reid off waivers from the New England Patriots.

The Colts signed former 2004 fourth-round pick Dexter Reid off of waivers on Tuesday.

Reid saw action with the New England Patriots last year in 13 games, starting in two of them. He was credited with nine tackles on defense, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and two passes defensed.

"We liked him a lot coming out of school and had good grades on him," head coach Tony Dungy said. "He's a physical guy, a good special teams player, a tough guy and a good athlete."

The 5'11, 203-pound safety out of North Carolina had the fourth-highest number of special teams tackles for the Patriots last year with sixteen. In his junior year at North Carolina, he posted 166 tackles, best ever by a defensive back at the university -- and just five short of the overall school record. Recommended Stories
