Doss Wins Appeal, Suspension Reduced

Posted Sep 8, 2005

Safety Mike Doss appealed his 2-game suspension to the league office, and walked away with a reduced penalty.

Colts safety Mike Doss, who was initially suspended for the first two regular games by the league due to a personal conduct policy violation during the offseason, succeeded in getting his suspension reduced to one game. Doss had pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor gun charge that occurred in Akron, Ohio earlier this year.

But conditions were imposed by the league that Doss must meet or the original term will be reinstated. League spokesman Steve Alic wouldn't comment on the details regarding those conditions.

"If he complies with the conditions he's under, that would be it," Alic said according to NFL wire reports.

The move would be huge for the Colts who play division rival Jacksonville on September 18th, a game Doss would have missed. He could be activated as early as September 12th, but the Colts would have to release a player to put him back on the active roster.
