Caldwell, Capers Interview With Bills

Interest in Colts Assistant Head Coach Jim Caldwell is growing as he landed his second interview.

Colts Assistant Head Coach Jim Caldwell and former Houston Texans Head Coach Dom Capers were both in Buffalo on Friday to be interviewed for the head coach position with the Bills.

According to the Bills, both men met individually with owner Ralph Wilson and new GM Marv Levy.

Caldwell and Caper's interview opportunities bring the total number of candidates under consideration to six. One advantage Caldwell might have is a likely endorsement from Colts President Bill Polian, who is close friends with Levy and who worked for Wilson.

Former Packers coach Mike Sherman and former Bears coach Dick Jauron will give Caldwell stiff competition to overcome. Buffalo has also interviewed Bobby April, Buffalo's special teams coordinator, and San Diego Chargers receivers coach and former Bills receiver James Lofton.

Caldwell, who has head coaching experience at the collegiate level with Wake Forest, also interviewed for the Vikings head coach spot earlier this month. Minnesota opted for Eagles offensive coordinator Brad Childress.
