The Austin Wranglers of the Arena Football League announced that they have signed OL/DL Bernard Holsey to their roster following his release by the Utah Blaze.
The 6-foot-2, 295-pound lineman out of Duke played for Indianapolis during the 2000 and 2001 seasons.
Back in 2002, Holsey played his first season of Arena Football with the Dallas Desperados. He saw action in six games with the New England Patriots that year after the Desperados completed their season, registering five tackles and a sack.
In 2003, he played in 16 games for the Redskins and had a terrific game against the Giants in December of that year.
"We're probably going to give him a game ball come Wednesday when the team gets together," then head coach Steve Spurrier said. "Bernard made tackles all over the place and was hustling around, playing his assignments probably as well as anybody on the team."
Holsey signed with the Rams in 2004, but during training camp, he injured his knee. He was released in the final round of cuts that year and hasn't been with an NFL team since.
During his seven-year career, Holsey recorded 98.0 tackles, nine sacks and two passes defended.
