ColtPower has learned that former UCLA backup quarterback David Koral has been released by the Indianapolis Colts.
Koral was one of two undrafted free agent quarterbacks who were expected to compete for the number three spot on the depth chart. Last season, the third quarterback was a practice squad position occupied by Tom Arth, who is now trying to land a job on the Green Bay Packers roster.
Koral's release was not totally unexpected as the Colts signed former Buccaneers quarterback Shaun King on Friday. The addition of the veteran translated into five quarterbacks on the offseason roster. With King and Sorgi expected to battle for the second-string spot, it appears that the third position should be Miami (Ohio) Josh Betts' job to lose. Betts was the other undrafted free agent signed along with Koral.
