The Dallas Cowboys are the latest team to show interest in former Colt Adam Meadows, who was reinstated to the NFL earlier this week after deciding to come out of retirement. Dallas was one of the teams that pursued Meadows when he was an unrestricted free agent two years ago, but he landed in Carolina. It's expected that Meadows will head to the Cowboys training camp within the next few days for a physical and to meet with team officials.
The 6-foot-5, 290-pound offensive lineman walked away from a five-year, $15 million contract with Carolina that included a $2.5 million signing bonus two years ago due to nagging shoulder problems.
"I got the feeling then that he didn't want to play anymore," Cowboys head coach Bill Parcells said Friday afternoon. "And I was right. Now, I need to see what has changed."
Meadows passed a team physical for the Atlanta Falcons earlier this week and met with team officials. Then it was on to New Orleans to meet with Saints general manager Mickey Loomis and player personnel director Rick Mueller, according to Don Henderson, Meadows' agent.
After working out for the Saints on Thursday, it was on to Green Bay for another tryout on Friday.
The Saints may be a very attractive option for Meadows since he could compete for a starter's position in New Orleans. Their two returning players at the right tackle position -- Jon Stinchcomb and Jamar Nesbit -- have just three career starts between the two of them.
The Dolphins are also rumored to have some interest in Meadows, but there are no confirmed reports of a visit as of yet.
