According to one of our sources close to the NFL, former Temple quarterback Mike McGann was waived by the Colts to restore their roster to the maximum of 80 players.
The Colts added CB Shannon Fitzhugh, a former Carolina Panther who played with the Berlin Thunder this offseason, along with S Jahmile Addae, an undrafted free agent out of West Virginia this week. The team evidently requested Fitzhugh's NFL Europe exemption be applied so he wouldn't count against the 80-man roster. The Colts now have six players on their roster with NFLE exemptions, plus one more player, Marlin Jackson, with a designated bonus exemption the Colts had received from the league.
But to make room for Addae, one player had to be waived or reserved. With Shaun King settling in and showing good signs of learning the offense, Jim Sorgi working through his shoulder tenderness, and rookie Josh Betts out of Miami(OH) on the roster, McGann was determined to be the logical choice at this point in the preseason.
A non-roster invitee to the Colts' rookie camp who was eventually signed as an undrafted free agent, McGann bumped UCLA backup David Koral off the roster. He finished his career at Temple ranked third all-time in career passing yards (4,333), second in attempts (778) and third in completions (383).
