A Colts foot specialist provided details on kicker Adam Vinatieri's injury to his plant foot. Amidst rumors that Vinatieri had a broken bone in his foot, the team's big concern is a sprained ligament, not the bone chip.

According to an wire report, Colts foot specialist Dave Porter said that the team's kicker, Adam Vinatieri, has a sprained ligament and a bone chip. But he emphasized that the ligament sprain to Vinatieri's plant foot is the cause of concern that has kept him out of action.

Despite the fact that Indianapolis' new kicker has missed three preseason games so far and hasn't been able to practice since August 14th, the team is apparently still confident that he'll be ready to kick against the Giants when the team opens their regular season on national television on September 10th. That confidence will be tested as the Colts have to trim their roster on Saturday and decide whether or not to hold on to rookie Shane Andrus, who has performed well on both kickoffs and field goals during three preseason games.

Vinatieri signed a five-year, $12 million contract as a free agent during the offseason after the Colts opted to allow former kicker Mike Vanderjagt to pursue employment elsewhere.
