Colts Reshuffle the Deck With Practice Squad

The Indianapolis Colts continued to shuffle players on and off their practice squad to find the right mix of depth and talent for the opening week of the season. Find out who's in and who's out in this update.

The Indianapolis Colts announced that the current members of their eight-man practice squad -- as of Wednesday -- are:

Running back Ran Carthon
Wide receiver Devin Aromashodu
Wide receiver John Standeford
Cornerback T.J. Rushing
Offensive tackle Michael Toudouze
Offensive lineman Dan Federkeil
Defensive tackle Sweet Pea Burns
Quarterback Josh Betts

Undrafted rookies Albert Bimper (OL) and Tanard Davis (DB) were bumped from the squad along with second-year tight end Joey Hawkins to make room for the addition of Standeford, Rushing and Toudouze. They were initially on the 53-man roster as of Saturday, but were bumped off when the Colts added former Dallas LB Rocky Boiman, former Titans DE Bo Schobel, and recently waived Colts OG Matt Ulrich.

With the Colts' two open positions on the practice squad, they brought running back Ran Carthon, who had been trying to make the roster as a fullback in Seattle, but wasn't able to crack a very talented backfield. Carthon spent time on the Colts roster and practice squad in 2004 after being signed as a undrafted rookie free agent. He was also on the Colts roster in 2005 prior to his release in late November. Carthon, who was rarely on the gameday (active) roster for the team, has also done some work for the Colts as a reserve kickoff returner. He may also be someone they look to for their short-yardage situations

Indianapolis also added wide receiver Devin Aromashodu, a seventh-round pick by the Miami Dolphins out of Auburn. During the preseason, he had four catches for 33 yards and he returned two kickoffs for 43 yards. ColtPower's Jerry Langton will provide detailed analysis on Aromashodu in an upcoming ColtScout feature. Recommended Stories
