Free agency officially opens today, and unrestricted free agent running back Dominic Rhodes is wasting no time. He has his first team visit today.

It became apparent on Thursday that running back Dominic Rhodes' alleged DUI incident -- that led to a recent arrest -- won't diminish his value in free agency, which officially opens today.

ColtPower has learned that Rhodes will visit the New York Giants today.

Following the retirement of veteran Tiki Barber, the Giants are looking for a quick, explosive runner like Rhodes to compliment the bruising, hard-nosed style of Brandon Jacobs. Rhodes would also help the Giants offense with his pass-catching ability out of the backfield.

Rhodes completed his 2007 season with a spectacular playoff run that will undoubtedly raise his free agency value. He has started 27 games over his first six years in the league and has a career rushing average of 4.1 yards per carry. Rhodes is also an experienced and capable kickoff returner.
