Colts look to fill slot receiver void with Ohio State wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez.

With the final pick in the first round of the 2007 NFL Draft, the Indianapolis Colts selected wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez from Ohio State University.

Gonzalez, 6-foot, 193 pounds, had 51 catches for 734 yards and eight touchdowns in 2006, his junior season. He never fumbled during his collegiate career. Gonzalez also returned punts and kicks during his time at Ohio State.

At the NFL Combine, Gonzalez impressed scouts with a 4.46 40 yard dash time and a 38’’ vertical.

With the departure of Brandon Stokley, Gonzalez appears poised to step in as the Colts’ slot receiver, a role he regularly played for the Buckeyes. Gonzalez is known for his ability to make clutch catches over the middle and run precise routes.

Gonzalez was a Rhodes Scholar candidate and an Academic All-American. He earned a 4.0 GPA as a philosophy/pre-law major.
