— Linebacker Gary Brackett hasn't been able to practice much since the start of the Colts' organized team activities in late May.

Brackett recently underwent surgery to clean out scar tissue in his right leg. He had suffered a broken bone in the leg late last season that forced him to miss the last few games of the year, including the team's AFC playoff loss to San Diego.

The Colts middle linebacker isn't worried about when he will be able to practice again.

"We fixed up some things, got some things scoped," Brackett said. "Now, it's feeling good. I've got my motion back and (we're) strengthening it so I'll be back for training camp."

A starter in his last 58 regular-season games over the previous four seasons, the former Rutgers standout doesn't envision wholesale changes to the Colts' defensive scheme despite the addition of new coordinator Larry Coyer.

There will be tweaking, however. While the primary setup will remain basically the same, Indianapolis may be a little more aggressive defensively.

"In years past you saw more of a laid-back defense, more pass concerns and letting the front four guys get after the quarterback," Brackett said. "Now, you're going to see more of everyone getting involved."

— LB Freddy Keiaho was an unrestricted free agent who was not re-signed by the Colts until April.

Keiaho, who has been a starter at weak-side linebacker for the past two seasons, is happy to be back with the team. He's also not worried what his role will be on the 2009 team.

"I really don't know what's going to happen," Keiaho said. "All I know is I can help this team win games."

— RB Joseph Addai and OG Mike Pollak have been held out of some of the team's OTA workouts so far but should be ready for the start of training camp.

"In both cases both guys are recovering from injuries but right on pace in terms of recovery. We are obviously taking it real slow with them," Caldwell said.

— WR Reggie Wayne worked out with his former University of Miami teammates in Florida for most of the Colts' early organized team activity practices. But Wayne showed up last week for the OTAs and is taking part in Indianapolis' mandatory three-day minicamp.

"Year in and year old he's probably kept the same schedule. He's a guy that keeps himself in great physical condition," said Colts coach Jim Caldwell. "I spoke to him (last week) and he told me he may be in the best shape he's been in in his life. That's pretty good shape because he does an excellent job of maintaining his conditioning."

— OG Ryan Lilja has been seeing limited work for the Colts during the team's organized team activities. Lilja missed the 2008 season after undergoing a pair of surgeries on his right knee.

"Yes, he appears to be coming along very well. He's making good progress. He feels that he's further along than he's been, and they are starting to do things with him little-by-little. So, he's increasing his activity," said head coach Jim Caldwell.

"The way things are going right now it looks pretty good. I'm not certain, exactly, when he'll be to the point that he can perform full-speed consistently, but I know that he's moving in that direction."
