— The Colts will adopt the NFL's hottest fashion trend when the team conducts the opening workout of its 2009 training camp in Terre Haute on Aug. 3. Team officials have finalized an agreement to wear an Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance patch on the left shoulder of their practice jerseys.
"It's kind of a timely thing this year because they're celebrating their 75th anniversary," said Tom Zupancic, Colts senior vice president of sales and marketing. "We really want to build up a lot of equity in the patch because it's the first time it's been offered on a uniform in the NFL. It is groundbreaking."
The patch has been rolled into Farm Bureau's current naming rights package for the Colts' Indianapolis training facility, which Zupancic said runs another five years. Terms were not disclosed.
— All 10 Colts home games next season will be broadcast in Spanish on two Indianapolis area radio stations. NFL broadcaster Armando Quintera will handle play-by-play. Colts official Tom Zupancic said the broadcasts are aimed at building interest among the area's growing Hispanic population.
— The PeyBack Foundation, the charitable organization sponsored by QB Peyton Manning, recently distributed more than $500,000 in grants to 104 community agencies around the Indianapolis area.
— Former Colts WR Jerome Pathon has recently been named an assistant coach at the University of San Diego. Pathon is the second former Indianapolis receiver to move into the collegiate coaching ranks in recent months. Troy Walters is beginning his first year as the offensive coordinator at Indiana State.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "He's 26 years old, so he's at that prime age, obviously. He's just kind of hitting his stride. He's a guy who really is progressing and growing day by day. In college, he played wide receiver, so we see him just kind of continuing to get better. He's a guy who just seems to always be in the right place at the right time. He has that knack." — Colts coach Jim Caldwell on the development of CB Kelvin Hayden since he was a second-round draft pick in 2005.
