On how he feels:
"I feel good. It's been a long time since I've talked to you guys, but I'm feeling good. I'm encouraged about the rehab and everything, and we'll see what happens over the next few weeks."
On if he has a time frame in mind on when he will return:
"No. Right now we really don't know. I don't want to get into details about it, but everything is looking good so far."
On if he is excited about the new assignments on defense:
"We are excited. We have a lot of great things in and a lot of good help. We were able to get a lot of work in during camp. It's exciting and we look forward to showing what we can do this week."
On if it was frustrating not having an aggressive defense in the past:
"You could say that, but I think we are just excited about what we have now. You can look back in the past, we try not to, and you can learn from the mistakes you made. But now is now and that's all we can worry about and try and get back to where we want to be."
On if he will be ready to jump in when he is healthy:
"Definitely. It takes some time. There was a lot installed during training camp and OTAs, but it's exciting. We are excited about it and I think all of the guys have taken well to it and picked it up. We'll see what happens this week."
On how close he feels to being back:
"I'm not really sure, right now. I'm just going to take it a day at a time, try and get better, and get excited for the time when I am out there."
On if he will be out on the practice field:
"Not sure. I don't want to get into all of the details, but I just wanted to let everyone know I'm doing fine, my spirits are up . . . I'm excited about the year, it's starting up, and it's time to play football."
On if he is ‘desperate' to get back out there:
"No, not really. I've been through this, as you guys know, several times. So I'm used to it."
On if he will play Sunday:
"Like I said, we don't know yet. I'm not going to get into any details if I'm playing or practicing — but as soon as it happens you guys will be the first ones to know."
On if it is encouraging having S Melvin Bullitt behind him:
"It is. It is always great to have a backup who can come right in and pick up the slack. Melvin has done a tremendous job of that, and that's what we do, it's about the next man in. If guys are down, we plug guys in and they pick up the slack and do well, so it's encouraging."
