The recent rash of injuries in the linebacking corps — Gary Brackett, Tyjaun Hagler and Clint Session are all nursing injuries — forced the team's hand. Indianapolis has waived wide receiver Charles Dillon.

Dillon signed with the club this year as a rookie free agent from Washington State. Archer, 6 feet, 239 pounds, played six games last year with Indianapolis. A rookie from Kansas State in 2007, Archer had 15 tackles, nine solo, in a reserve role with the Colts.
