Biography:
PRO: A proven NFL cornerback with good cover skills and a knack for supporting the run, Harper was signed by the Titans as an unrestricted free agent on March 14, 2007. Harper adds experience, toughness and leadership to a young and talented secondary. Labeled as the Colts top rated cornerback, Harper was a key component as the Colts captured Super Bowl XLI. During his six-year tenure with the Colts, Harper played in 89 games with 60 starts, while registering 383 tackles, 57 passes defensed, 15 interceptions and three fumble recoveries. In 11 playoffs games, he posted 45 tackles, seven passes defensed, one interception, two fumbles forced and one fumble recovery. In 2006, Harper started 15 games and posted 73 tackles, 11 passes defensed (tied team-high) and three interceptions (tied team-high). For the Colts title run, Harper played in all four playoff contests and tallied 14 tackles, two passes defensed, one fumble forced and one interception. In 2003, Harper posted career-high’s with 94 tackles and four interceptions with one touchdown return. In 2000, Harper started 18 games for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League. He was originally signed as a free agent on January 16, 2001 by the Indianapolis Colts. TITANS TIDBITS: • Harper was informed before the start of his senior season that he wouldn’t be eligible to play at Fort Valley State because of an eligibility issue regarding a previous redshirt season. Harper was shocked by the turn of events and what added to the saga was the NFL Draft had already come and gone. Harper’s collegiate career ended abruptly, but he was still focused on playing in the NFL. Harper worked out three times a day hoping for a call from a NFL executive. In 2000, Harper decided to play for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League, but he finally reached his ultimate goal when he signed with the Indianapolis Colts on January 16, 2001. • After his professional football career, Harper will dedicate his time coaching his three sons – Nicholas, Darius and Eric. Harper says that he two oldest sons Nicholas and Darius already have a deep passion for football and they even watch film with him at home. • In the off-season, Harper spent 10 days in Iraq as part of the Gridiron Greats Tour, joined by Chris Harris and Israel Idonije of the Chicago Bears. Harper visited 10 bases and spoke with soldiers. Harper says that his experience in Iraq changed his whole outlook on life. • An avid movie watcher, Harper owns over 1,000 DVD’s and over 100 karate flicks. CAREER HIGHLIGHTS: IN 2006, played in 15 games with 15 starts at left cornerback for NFL’s second ranked pass defense. Recorded 73 tackles, tied for team-high with three interceptions and 11 passes defensed. Was inactive one game at New York Jets (10/1). • At New York Giants (9/10), posted six tackles, one interception and one pass defensed. • At Denver (10/29), totaled season-high nine tackles and one pass defensed. • At Dallas (11/19), registered six tackles and second interception of season. • Against Philadelphia (11/26), totaled four tackles and snagged interception in second consecutive game. • In AFC Wild Card Game against Kansas City (1/6), posted five tackles and one pass defensed. • In AFC Divisional Game at Baltimore (1/13), recorded four tackles, one pass defensed, one forced fumble and one interception. • In AFC Championship against New England (1/2
