Colts Make Seven Moves

ColtPower has learned that the Colts made seven player moves behind the scenes this week, including one that was very short-lived.

While the Colts made seven recent changes involving players associated with the club, none of the moves impacted the 53-man roster.

But the moves were still quite interesting.

Defensive tackle Tom Johnson and veteran linebacker Keith O'Neil agreed to an injury settlements, freeing them from the injured reserve list so they could pursue opportunities elsewhere this season. Earlier in the week, the team had reached an injury settlement with safety Norman LeJeune, removing him from the injured reserve list as well.

Offensive linemen Joe Lobdell and Sam Wilder were released from the practice squad and were replaced by offensive tackle Gabe Hall and center Dan Santucci. The Colts had released Hall back on August 28 while Santucci was cut by Cincinnati on September 3.

However, Santucci's practice squad assignment barely lasted 24 hours as Cincinnati re-signed him to their active roster on Friday, the second time in less than a week that they have signed a player the Colts had hoped to put on their practice squad. Following the roster cutdowns last weekend, Indianapolis had hoped to move rookie running back Clifton Dawson to their practice squad, but the Bengals signed him to their 53-man roster instead.

Santucci was a seventh-round pick by Cincinnati in the 2007 NFL Draft who established a good reputation at Notre Dame for his pass-blocking skill. As a result of him re-signing with the Bengals, the Colts now have an open spot on their practice squad to fill as they begin preparations for their road game against the Titans next week.
